It’s Thursday so
it’s the perfect day to recommend a book to read for pleasure. A book I enjoyed
with all my heart and even today when I remember it I sigh and feel the urge to
read it again.
HOPELESS by
Colleen Hoover.
Here is the Goodreads
blurb:
Sometimes discovering the truth can leave you more
hopeless than believing the lies…
That’s what seventeen-year-old Sky realizes after she meets
Dean Holder. A guy with a reputation that rivals her own and an uncanny ability
to invoke feelings in her she’s never had before. He terrifies her and
captivates her all in the span of just one encounter, and something about the
way he makes her feel sparks buried memories from a past that she wishes could
just stay buried.
Sky struggles to keep him at a distance knowing he’s nothing
but trouble, but Holder insists on learning everything about her. After finally
caving to his unwavering pursuit, Sky soon finds that Holder isn’t at all who
he’s been claiming to be. When the secrets he’s been keeping are finally
revealed, every single facet of Sky’s life will change forever.
Here is a trailer of the book I really think is
perfect:
This book is really amazing, even when it talks of
really huge issues I wasn’t grossed out by the way it showed, it is implied yes
and terrifying too. But I love that it’s not about the thing but about how the
character grew, change and overcame it.
The stories that make you see a character grow are the
ones I love most because I grow with them too.
Be aware to have a box of tissues next to you when
reading.
I am one of
those persons that believe that learning all you can about what you want to do
in life is the best you can do.
I want to be a
writer so I try to learn everything I can about it. I take classes, read books,
interesting blog posts, etc.
Of course another
important thing is to write and write and write so you can improve. One of the
best ways to improve is practice.
For me the
learning as I said is very important too so I want to share with you the
resources I found more useful. Every time I find more helpful resources I will
share them with you in this blog.
The first thing
I read was Stephen King: On writing.
This is an
awesome book and you’ll not regret reading every single word.
Next I’d recommend
for you to read Writing The Breakout Novel and the workbook. This is an awesome
book with good examples and exercises to improve your writing.
Also I recommend
taking courses whether online or in person. For me is hard to find good courses
close to me so I focus on online courses and workshops. The best courses I have
taken were Margie Lawson Deep Edit courses.
I learnt important things that everyday improve my writing.
Last as Stephen king
says in on writing Read, read lots in your genre and in others. You need to
read lots to be a good writer.
First I have to say: Congrats to Katie Hamstead for the release of
Kiya: Hope of the Pharaoh!
Since today is the release day and Katie Hamstead is doing a blog hop
I’m going to talk about Egypt.
I chose the implementation of Atenism since it’s something that appears
in the novel and left me curious.
In the early years of his reign, Amenhotep IV lived at Thebes with
Nefertiti and his 6 daughters. Initially, he permitted worship of Egypt's
traditional deities to continue.
The relationship between Amenhotep IV and the priests of Amun-Re
gradually deteriorated. In Year 5 of his reign, Amenhotep IV took decisive
steps to establish the Aten as the exclusive, monotheistic god of Egypt: the
pharaoh "disbanded the priesthoods of all the other gods...and diverted
the income from these [other] cults to support the Aten". To emphasize his
complete allegiance to the Aten, the king officially changed his name from
Amenhotep IV to Akhenaten or 'Living Spirit of Aten. Akhenaten's fifth year
also marked the beginning of construction on his new capital, Akhetaten or
'Horizon of Aten', at the site known today as Amarna.
Initially, Akhenaten presented Aten as a variant of the familiar supreme
deity Amun-Re. However, by Year 9 of his reign, Akhenaten declared that Aten
was not merely the supreme god, but the only god, and that he, Akhenaten, was
the only intermediary between Aten and his people. He ordered the defacing of
Amun's temples throughout Egypt and, in a number of instances; inscriptions of
the plural 'gods' were also removed. Source:Wikipedia.

I wanted to make
this post since I knew this news but I had to wait to the moment she announced
and then I didn’t had the words.
My Bestie and CP
Stacey Nash signed with Entranced for the publication of her novel Forget Me
Not.
This was me when
I heard the news from her:
This is
important for me to say because many people would think that in a situation
like this a writer seeking publication too would be jealous, although she would
never admit it, and would not know how to react. At least I feared that. But I have to say with total honesty that I don’t have an inch
of jealousy right now. I feel proud and happy.
Stacey has
worked so hard to make this story perfect, she has made all that was on her
hands to become a better writer every day and still does. She’s truly devoted
to be a writer all her life. People that work hard always achieve their goals.
I feel so happy
for my friend and for her story. It’s a story I love deeply and always knew it
would be published that I feel like of course you want to publish it, it’s an
awesome story.
So I think that
sometimes jealousy of other achievements doesn’t get to us because friendship and
love for the person and her work win the battle. So never be afraid of being jealous of your friends achievements, you'll never be.
Celebrate with
me and Stacey please and follow Satceyto have more news of the publication of Forget Me Not:
Today is a big day! Today we are going to finally see the cover of Kiya: Hope of the Pharaoh.
This is a book I really love, I was one of
the fortunate people to read it before release and I can say it made me laugh,
sigh and cry.
Can you keep a little secret? It made me
consider making a machine that could make fictional characters real. I'm crazy,
I know but this is how much I love it.
Okay now for the big reveal! Here's the cover
of my awesome CP and friend Katie
Hamstead bookKiya: Hope of the
Pharaoh.
It really is a beautiful cover; now to give
you a hint of what is inside here's the blurb:
To
save her younger sisters from being taken to the cruel life of the palace,
Naomi intervenes and gives herself to be a wife of the erratic Pharaoh
Akhenaten.
In the palace, Naomi finds herself thrust into the intrigues of the royal family,
and has her name changed to Kiya. She becomes beloved by the Pharaoh, who
declares that she will bear him his heir. But the Great Queen Nefertiti,
furious with jealousy, schemes to destroy Naomi and even brings her fidelity
into question, which could cost Naomi her very life.
Naomi
must play the deadly game carefully. She is in a silent battle of wills, and a
struggle for who will one day inherit the crown. And if she does bear an
heir, she will have to fight to protect him as well as herself from Nefertiti
who is out for blood.
Yes, it's very
interesting so I think you should add it to your goodreads shelves so you don't
forget. There´s a widget to add it in the right.
Katie has planned a
great blog hop to start the day of the release April 30th. So go visit her
blog.
Don't forget to buy
this awesome book on April 30th.
