Welcome to my stop on the Halloween hop a Nightmare in Aus.

Well as you already know I’m a citizen of the world that right now lives in Mexico so sit down because I’m going to tell you a legend we have over here.

La Llorona legend.

People say that many, many years ago a native Mexican woman fell in love with a Spanish gentleman. Despite their social differences they had three kids that the woman loved with all her heart. When she asked the man to marry her and become a real family he said no.

The woman couldn’t believe it; she thought there were in love. A few days later she discovered he had married a wealthy woman as him. Feeling betrayed she went to the river and drowned her kids, drowning herself after them because of the guilt.

Since then at night you can hear her laments “My children!!” near the river. They say La Llorona sometimes still full of pain searches for other children to kill or keep; also she’s hunting women out of jealousy and men out of spite.

People have seen her dressed in white, wandering near water while wailing for her children.

So be aware of La LLorona and if you ever come to visit Mexico, stay away from rivers at night…

My children!!!!!!

I hope I didn't scared you too much but if I did I have a treat for you, I’m going to give away one of this books to one winner. I’ll send it through the book depository so please only enter if they deliver to you.

Since today is Wednesday but also one day before Halloween I was thinking of sharing some images related.

But not the typical images for Halloween no I’m going to share images about the creatures we usually dress as in Halloween and some book character I love that are related too.

I really like vampires, I don’t know there’s something sexy in them.

It's no secret that Sophie Jordan is one of my favorite authors. I love the way she transmits emotion in every single novel.

Her new novel Foreplay will release in a week and I'm very excited to share with you the trailer for this story.

Now here it's the cover so you can buy it when it releases or even preorder right now.

Foreplay Summary:

Before she goes after the life she’s always wanted, she’s about to find the one she needs.

Pepper has been hopelessly in love with her best friend’s brother, Hunter, for like ever. He’s the key to everything she’s always craved: security, stability, family. But she needs Hunter to notice her as more than just a friend. Even though she’s kissed exactly one guy, she has just the plan to go from novice to rock star in the bedroom—take a few pointers from someone who knows what he’s doing.

Her college roommates have the perfect teacher in mind. But bartender Reece is nothing like the player Pepper expects. Yes, he’s beyond gorgeous, but he’s also dangerous, deep—with a troubled past. Soon what started as lessons in attraction are turning both their worlds around, and showing just what can happen when you go past foreplay and get to what’s real…

Today is the day the book number 2 of the Kiya trilogy by Katie Hamstead releases. I'm so excited that all of you are going to read it because it's amazing.

Amazon | Kobo | Goodreads

Nefertiti has forced Naomi to flee Amarna with Malachi and the three children. But even under the protection of Naomi’s family in Thebes, Nefertiti still hunts her and Tut. Nefertiti sends assassins to kill them, and while Naomi fights to protect the children, Malachi fights to keep her safe.

With three children in tow, one of which isn’t her own, she is labeled the harlot outcast wife of the pharaoh and is shunned. She isn’t safe among her own people, and flees from being stoned to death. Although her family protects her, she must find a way to survive.

While Naomi struggles to keep herself and Tut alive, old adversaries return as Smenkhkare takes advantage of Akhenaten’s ailing health. Naomi must rely on Horemheb’s promise to protect Tut’s birthright, but her feelings for Malachi could cause more problems with Horemheb than she expects.

My review: In this second book of the trilogy we find a stronger Naomi, fighting for protecting her son and the daughter of her dear friend. She faces prejudice and rejection from her people. But also she struggles with love and duty.

It’s a great second book moving forward the story of a strong woman in the middle of war of power.

I really love how Katie Hamstead makes us see a woman that is so intelligent , that can and will do everything for the ones she loves. She’ll never accept anything without knowing why and will always struggle to see what’s best for her family.

Of course you will see more about Horemheb my favorite character and we’ll see an unexpected side of him.

Really you don’t want to miss this book and get ready for the third and last of the series.

Of course I really suggest you read first Kiya hope of the Pharaoh. HERE. you can buy it.

I think it’s not a secret I love The Mortal Instruments by Cassie Clare.
Yesterday I was thinking about the amazing bond one shadow hunter has with his parabatai. That made me think about parabatai in life not only in fiction. Specifically in writing.

First for those who haven’t read The mortal Instruments (you really should) and doesn't know what a parabatai is, here’s the definition from the shadowhunters’ wiki:
http://shadowhunters.wikia.com/wiki/Runes

Parabatai is a pair of Nephilim warriors who fight together and are closer than siblings, regardless of their gender. They are partners who would lay down their life for the other. Being ones' parabatai is not merely a matter of promising to guard each other. The pair must stand before the Council and swear an oath to lay down their lives for each other.
Not all Shadowhunters are required to have parabatai though, and it is actually less common to have them.
Parabatai share each other's powers and can feel a strong connection between them. They also share a part of their strength with each other.

Now after all the definition I’ll share with you what I thought.
Parabatai in writing are those people who share a strange connection in their writing and thoughts, that complement each other strengths and weaknesses. A parabatai is someone who will help you and want to make your writing better every day. That will cheer you up all along the way.

You might say but that’s what CP’s do. Of course CP’s do all that, I know I have awesome CP’s myself that I love so dearly that I could cry for days if I lose them. But I’m talking about a deeper connection, a connection with a person that’ll understand as if it were you, your writing and your feelings.

I’m proud to say I have my writing parabatai in Stacey Nash, she’s my soul sister and I’d do anything for her.

Now is your turn, do you have a writing parabatai?

4th Annual Spooktacular Giveaway Hop

October 15th to 31st

This awesome giveaway I have for you is hosted by the blog I am a reader, Not a Writer.

Since I know everyone loves getting gift cards I'm giving away:
Also I'm giving away a kindle copy or an ebook copy of Finding Home by Lauren McKellar:

Moody, atmospheric, and just a little bit punk, Finding Home takes contemporary YA to a new level of grit...

When Amy’s mum dies, the last thing she expects is to be kicked off her dad’s music tour all the way to her Aunt Lou in a depressing hole of a seaside town. But it’s okay — Amy learned how to cope with the best, and soon finds a hard-drinking, party-loving crowd to help ease the pain.

The only solace is her music class, but even there she can’t seem to keep it together, sabotaging her grade and her one chance at a meaningful relationship. It takes a hard truth from her only friend before Amy realises that she has to come to terms with her past, before she destroys her future

But that's not all, I'm giving away a Kindle copy of Kiya Hope of the Pharaoh by Katie Hamstead.

When Naomi’s sisters are snatched up to be taken to be wives of the erratic Pharaoh, Akhenaten, she knows they won’t survive the palace, so she offers herself in their place. The fearsome Commander Horemheb sees her courage, and knows she is exactly what he is looking for…

The Great Queen Nefertiti despises Naomi instantly, and strips her of her Hebrew lineage, including her name, which is changed to Kiya. Kiya allies herself with Horemheb, who pushes her to greatness and encourages her to make the Pharaoh fall in love with her. When Akhenaten declares Kiya will be the mother of his heir, Nefertiti, furious with jealousy, schemes to destroy Kiya.

Kiya must play the deadly game carefully. She is in a silent battle of wills, and a struggle for who will one day inherit the crown. If she does bear an heir, she knows she will need to fight to protect him, as well as herself, from Nefertiti who is out for blood.

To enter you just have to fill the refflecopter form below before the end of October 31st.

Good luck!

Today I’m going to review a YA Contemporary. Its name is Finding Home by Lauren McKellar.

First of all here is the blurb from Goodreads:

Moody, atmospheric, and just a little bit punk, Finding Home takes contemporary YA to a new level of grit...

When Amy’s mum dies, the last thing she expects is to be kicked off her dad’s music tour all the way to her Aunt Lou in a depressing hole of a seaside town. But it’s okay — Amy learned how to cope with the best, and soon finds a hard-drinking, party-loving crowd to help ease the pain.

The only solace is her music class, but even there she can’t seem to keep it together, sabotaging her grade and her one chance at a meaningful relationship. It takes a hard truth from her only friend before Amy realizes that she has to come to terms with her past, before she destroys her future.

Now to my thoughts:

I read this book in three hours, I just couldn't stop reading no matter what. Kids yelling, hubby asking for something, I didn't care I just wanted to know what would happen with Amy.

The characters on this story are so well crafted that they feel real, you can really see Amy as a teenager full of pain and bad decisions. You care for all the secondary characters even the dad.

What I found more appealing is that Amy grows in this story and changes her way of thinking but this is not something that happens instantly in the last chapter. You can see how each action and consequence slowly changes her mind and her heart.

It also talks of common themes for the teens like acceptance, love, alcohol abuse, want to be accepted by the peers. But it does it in a unique way that makes you feel you’re living it with Amy.

This is the perfect book about teens for teens beautifully written by a debut Aussie Author that you don’t want to miss.
