My Writing Process

First I have to thank my awesome writing parabatai (excuse the use of TMI here but am reading COHF!) Stacey Nash. Please go visit her blog and be ready because soon Forget Me Not will be released and you don’t want to miss it.



            1)      What am I working on?
Right now I’m working on the revisions of my YA contemporary novel named Dutiful Revenge. It’s a great mix of Diaries of a Princess and a political thriller. Of course it has a sweet romance in it. My next project will be the second book of Glowing Shadows my NA Urban Fantasy. I’m very excited to continue that story.

2) How does my work differ from others of its genre?
I think my work differs because I grew up in between two countries Mexico and Spain. Countries with lots of tradition and culture. I grew reading all the magical realism in Mexican literature. I think all this show in my work, my NA novel is set in Madrid, which is a place I love that I think that haven’t been used so much in novels of my genre.

3) Why do I write what I do?
I write what calls to me at the moment. Sometimes my writing starts from an emotion and from that emotion the story grows. So the emotion, the character are the ones that tell me what kind of story they need, it could be fantasy, contemporary or anything in between but I have to admit I can’t write horror. Also every single one of my books no matter the genre has romance in it. For me it is always needed.

4) How does my writing process work?

It depends on the story and on my family. Usually I make an outline for several days detailing more in my mind than in paper who my characters are, what they need and how to get them there. After that I try to write all I can while the characters are having this crazy conversations in my head, they usually love to talk while I wash the dishes so I have to run to take notes afterward. Once the first draft is done I close it and don’t open it for several weeks. The more the better to see where I can improve it. In that meantime I usually read lots on the genre so I can have a better idea before tackling the revisions.

The Halloween hop. A Nightmare in Aus.

Welcome to my stop on the Halloween hop a Nightmare in Aus.


Well as you already know I’m a citizen of the world that right now lives in Mexico so sit down because I’m going to tell you a legend we have over here.

La Llorona legend.

People say that many, many years ago a native Mexican woman fell in love with a Spanish gentleman. Despite their social differences they had three kids that the woman loved with all her heart. When she asked the man to marry her and become a real family he said no.

The woman couldn’t believe it; she thought there were in love. A few days later she discovered he had married a wealthy woman as him. Feeling betrayed she went to the river and drowned her kids, drowning herself after them because of the guilt.

Since then at night you can hear her laments “My children!!” near the river. They say La Llorona sometimes still full of pain searches for other children to kill or keep; also she’s hunting women out of jealousy and men out of spite.

People have seen her dressed in white, wandering near water while wailing for her children.

So be aware of La LLorona and if you ever come to visit Mexico, stay away from rivers at night…

Kiya: Hope of the Pharaoh Blog Hop

First I have to say: Congrats to Katie Hamstead for the release of Kiya: Hope of the Pharaoh!

Since today is the release day and Katie Hamstead is doing a blog hop I’m going to talk about Egypt.
I chose the implementation of Atenism since it’s something that appears in the novel and left me curious.
In the early years of his reign, Amenhotep IV lived at Thebes with Nefertiti and his 6 daughters. Initially, he permitted worship of Egypt's traditional deities to continue.
The relationship between Amenhotep IV and the priests of Amun-Re gradually deteriorated. In Year 5 of his reign, Amenhotep IV took decisive steps to establish the Aten as the exclusive, monotheistic god of Egypt: the pharaoh "disbanded the priesthoods of all the other gods...and diverted the income from these [other] cults to support the Aten". To emphasize his complete allegiance to the Aten, the king officially changed his name from Amenhotep IV to Akhenaten or 'Living Spirit of Aten. Akhenaten's fifth year also marked the beginning of construction on his new capital, Akhetaten or 'Horizon of Aten', at the site known today as Amarna.
Initially, Akhenaten presented Aten as a variant of the familiar supreme deity Amun-Re. However, by Year 9 of his reign, Akhenaten declared that Aten was not merely the supreme god, but the only god, and that he, Akhenaten, was the only intermediary between Aten and his people. He ordered the defacing of Amun's temples throughout Egypt and, in a number of instances; inscriptions of the plural 'gods' were also removed.

I’m back and One Lovely Blog Award

It’s been a long time, I know. But I have good reasons for being absent all this time. I worked hard with Glowing Shadow and now I’m querying it.
In this time, I learned a lot, met wonderful CPS and friends (including my sister of other mother that is very far away in Australia), entered lots of contests and I’m also finishing the draft of a new YA contemporary novel.
Blogging became really hard with all those things in mind but I’m ready to try again. I want to post at least once a week and I have prepared some subjects that I think you’ll like.
So for my first post back I’m posting about the One Lovely Blog Award. My bestie staceynash nominated me.

This is basically a blog hop. I have to share seven interesting facts about me:
1. I met my husband through internet and decided to marry him the first day we saw each other face to face.
2. So I married really young, I was nineteen and moved to the other side of the ocean, to Madrid.
3. I speak three languages: English, Spanish and Galician. The two first I can read, write and talk. Galician I can only talk.
4. I think of myself as a citizen of the world, being the daughter of Spanish immigrants in Mexico and Germany. Also there’s the thing that I married a Spanish guy.
5. I learned to read and write English and Spanish at the same time.
6. I read faster in English.
7. I have a severe addiction to chocolate. I can’t stop myself of finishing the package if I open it. And when I make myself stop eating it for weeks I get really cranky. Hulk is peaceful beside me.
