I think it’s
not a secret I love The Mortal Instruments by Cassie Clare.
Yesterday I
was thinking about the amazing bond one shadow hunter has with his parabatai.
That made me think about parabatai in life not only in fiction. Specifically in
writing.
First for those
who haven’t read The mortal Instruments (you really should) and doesn't know what
a parabatai is, here’s the definition from the shadowhunters’ wiki:

Parabatai is a pair of
Nephilim warriors who fight together and are closer than siblings, regardless
of their gender. They are partners who would lay down their life for the other.
Being ones' parabatai is not merely a matter of promising to guard each other.
The pair must stand before the Council and swear an oath to lay down their
lives for each other.
Not all Shadowhunters
are required to have parabatai though, and it is actually less common to have
them.
Parabatai share each
other's powers and can feel a strong connection between them. They also share a
part of their strength with each other.
Now after
all the definition I’ll share with you what I thought.
Parabatai
in writing are those people who share a strange connection in their writing and
thoughts, that complement each other strengths and weaknesses. A parabatai is
someone who will help you and want to make your writing better every day. That will
cheer you up all along the way.
You might
say but that’s what CP’s do. Of course CP’s do all that, I know I have awesome
CP’s myself that I love so dearly that I could cry for days if I lose them. But
I’m talking about a deeper connection, a connection with a person that’ll
understand as if it were you, your writing and your feelings.
I’m proud
to say I have my writing parabatai in Stacey Nash, she’s my soul sister and I’d
do anything for her.
