250 word blurb:

Nineteen-year-old empath Muriel thinks being a freaky genius who projects her feelings onto others is the worst curse possible. When she can’t control it, she channels depression to her sister who slits her wrists. Overwhelmed with guilt and wanting to protect her family from her curse, Muriel moves to Madrid, Spain.

In Madrid, Muriel discovers her curse isn’t the worst that can happen. Shadowy creatures try to kill her by absorbing her soul, and she doesn’t know why. Creatures of light, called Luxben appear to help. With no one else to turn to, Muriel accepts their offer of shelter. Now Muriel is in the middle of an epic war that has been raging in the city for decades, without the human population noticing and between creatures that don’t even exist in fiction. What she desperately needs to know is why her soul is so special.

She shares an instant mutual attraction with the Luxben leader, Dalkiel, even though she sees his light is a dark glowing shadow. This attraction not only evolves into lust and love but into new gifts for both of them that they can’t explain.

As the shadow creatures escalate their efforts to find and murder Muriel, she learns that her ability isn’t a curse after all-- unless it’s the reason why Dalkiel won’t allow himself to love her. She has to convince him that their profound and passionate love is worth everything, even the blend of good and evil as they fight for her very soul.

Woah! What made you think of this? What a great (but profoundly sad) hook--for Muriel to be responsible for her sister's suicide.

Really like the line: "between creatures that don't even exist in fiction"...until now, right? :.)

    Good luck!

  2. I LOVE the end of the query. Its "worth the blend of good and evil" sounds fantastically intriguing! Good luck Anabel :-)
